Lapsang Souchong is a tea that sparks strong opinions—you either love it or hate it.
After tasting and testing countless varieties, we’ve carefully selected this Organic Lapsang Souchong for its exceptional balance of flavor, quality, and affordability. Compared to our other Lapsang offering, this version features a more refined profile, benefiting from the complexity of longer tea leaves.
Crafted using a traditional drying process over pinewood fires, this distinctive black tea develops its signature bold, smoky aroma and deep, full-bodied character. The tea leaves undergo an intricate process: first withered over pine root fires, then pan-fried, rolled, and oxidized. Finally, they are placed in bamboo baskets and suspended above smoldering pinewood, allowing them to absorb the rich, smoky essence.
The origins of Lapsang Souchong are steeped in legend. Some believe that ancient villagers accidentally smoked their tea while burning their possessions, while another tale from the Qing Dynasty tells of an army occupying a tea factory. Pressed for time, workers dried their leaves over pinewood fires to speed up production. When the tea reached the market, its unique smoky flavor became an instant sensation, giving rise to this extraordinary tea.
A tea with history, depth, and unmistakable character—Lapsang Souchong is truly one of a kind.
