What is a Green Tea Shot?
The classic Green Tea Shot is actually made without any green tea. The name comes from the intense green color of the drink. Adding green tea to cocktails and shots is not a novelty. Green tea, especially matcha green tea powder. Matcha green tea powder is a special type of Japanese shaded and powdered tea with an intense green color and sweet and vegetal flavor. It can add a deliciously intense green color to drinks. With a subtle, fresh vegetal and slightly sweet flavor its suitable for mixing with almost any drink. Use only fresh tea and always use a sifter to prevent lumps. If you don’t have Jameson Irish Whiskey, try with different brands. To make green tea shots you will need:- 50 ml of Jameson Irish Whiskey
- ¼ teaspoon of Japanese matcha powder
- 20 ml of sweet and sour mix
- 50 ml of Lime juice cordial
- A few drops of lime
- Ice
What does a green tea shot taste like?
Green tea shot has a sweet and sour, fresh, sweet, zesty flavor, with lime dominating over light whiskey note. If you are not a fan of whiskey, don’t fear. You may actually like this drink. Choose the real matcha tea powder as any other green tea powder may give a brown, instead of green flavor. If you find it too sour, add a pinch of brown sugar.Green Tea Shot Recipe
To make a green tea shot, you will need a cocktail shaker. You will need special small shot glasses, or even better, glasses that you can freeze beforehand to serve a chillingly iced drink. This drink is suitable for slow sipping too.- Fill the smaller cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add whiskey and sour mix.
- Add matcha powder. Sift it through a sifter first to prevent lumps.
- Close the shaker and shake vigorously for about 20 minutes.
- Pour the drink into 2 glasses.
- Top up with Lime juice cordial.
- Add a few drops of lime.
- Serve and drink immediately.
