If you are lucky enough to be spending Mother’s Day with your Mom, instead of afternoon tea, treat her to a special breakfast. After all, the morning shows the day, and with a little effort, you could make it 100% delicious.

There’s a perfect tea for every occasion, and Mother’s Day is not an exception. Find inspiration for Mother’s Day breakfast and teas to serve with sweet and savoury meals.

1. Proper English Breakfast

If your mother is a traditional tea drinker, nothing can beat the proper English breakfast. What to serve? Bacon, sausages, toast with butter, beans, eggs and a cup of proper morning tea such as English Breakfast or English Black. 2. Floral tea breakfast

For mothers that love flowers and floral flavors, rose scented blends will be a genuine delight. To make your own floral tea blend you will need:

  • ½ teaspoon of dried edible rose petals

Bring water to a boil, blend black tea together with rose petals and place them into a teapot or an infuser. Add boiled water and steep for 3 minutes. Strain and add honey or other sweetener if needed.

3. Chocolate breakfast

Chocolate for breakfast? For special occasions like Mother’s Day, a chocolate breakfast is not only acceptable, but desirable too. 4. Fruity feast

To make fruit infused tea, you will need:

  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • A handful of fresh, washed, chopped fruit of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional, fruit will already make it sweet)

Bring water to a boil. Wash fruits, peel them if you need, and chop them into small pieces. Put fruit pieces and tea leaves into a teapot or an infusing basket and add hot water. Steep for 5, strain, add sweetener if needed and serve.

5. Cream tea

Tea with scones, clotted cream and jam of your choice is simple, classy and utterly delicious. Freshly baked scones will always taste the best, but the store bought scones may be as delicious. Serve them together with fresh clotted or whipped cream and jam. The best tea to serve? A cup of  proper milk tea.

6. Pink tea treat

If you want to prepare the most unique, delicious and beautiful cup of tea, try Pink tea or Noon Chai decorated with some chopped almonds and edible rose petals. Serve Noon Chai with simple pistachio shortbread cookies.

7. Festive breakfast

A glass of sparkly wine for breakfast? Why not! Infuse it with tea to make it extra special and serve with a slice of your Mom’s favorite cake.

To make a sparkling tea you will need:

  • 1 spoon of Earl Grey tea syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • A glass of dry prosecco

Prepare a tea syrup following the recipe or buy a pre-made Earl Grey syrup. Add one spoon of tea syrup into a champagne glass and top up with prosecco. Add lemon juice and serve.

8. Casual breakfast

10. Healthy breakfast

To make a super healthy Mother’s Day breakfast, use matcha green tea. Matcha tea powder is not only healthy, but perfect for making smoothies or simple oat bowls.

To make a delicious yet simple matcha smoothie you will need:

  • ½ of ripe banana, frozen or fresh, peeled and chopped
  • A handful of kale, frozen or fresh, washed
  • 3/4 glass of cold semi-skimmed or almond milk
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of matcha tea powder
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional)

Add banana, kale, and milk into your blender. If you prefer a slushy texture, use frozen ingredients. Add sifted matcha tea powder and the optional ingredients if you want to make it sweeter. Blend for 30-60 seconds. Pour into a glass and serve.
